Linden, Columbus

Selling a house in Linden

Northeast of downtown. Housing largely from the first half of the last century, and a neighbourhood that has been through a lot.

Most of Linden was built between the nineteen-tens and the fifties, and the neighbourhood went through decades where very little money came into it. There is real investment happening now, but the housing stock still reflects the long stretch before it.

The most common call I get from Linden is about a house that came down through a family. Someone’s mother or grandmother owned it for fifty years, it needs a full renovation, the people who inherited it live elsewhere, and it has been sitting while everyone works out what to do. There is no rush from me on that, but there is an answer, and it does not involve you fixing anything first.

Condition is not a problem

The kind of Linden house I buy

Nineteen-tens to fifties housing, much of it needing a full renovation. Vacant for years is common and is not a problem. I buy the house as it is, contents included if that helps.

  • Inherited from a parent or grandparent
  • Vacant for a long time and deteriorating
  • Owners who now live in another state
  • A property needing a full renovation you cannot fund
